I recently got many questions regarding ‘How to connect your PS-4 To your Laptop’. Well, connecting your PS4 to your laptop and playing games on it isn’t an easy task.

You might think that connecting your devices with an HDMI cable will help you connect you PS4 to your laptop. But (there’s a But always!), it’s not as simple as it sounds because the HDMI is a One-Way connection where one Device has an HDMI output port and the other should have an HDMI input port. And your PS4 & your Laptop, both have an Output HDMI port. And without an input source, you won’t be able to connect your PS4 to your laptop

Still, sounds simple? Keep reading, we’ll make it simple with our step by step guide!

There are mainly 2 ways to connect your PS4 to your laptop,

If you have any confusion related to Capture Cards, Check out our article on Capture Cards. Got everything? Let’s begin with the guide!

If you don’t have a wireless connection, then you will have to connect your devices with your router via Ethernet Cables so that you can stream between the two seamlessly.

2. Connecting the Video Capture Card (On Laptop)
Connect the Capture Card to your laptop via USP port and install the software which came with the capture card on your laptop to make it functioning.
3. Connecting the Video Capture Card (On PS4)

Now connect your PS4 to your Video card. For this, you’ll have to connect your HDMI input port to your PS4 and HDMI output to your video capture card. Now your devices are connected to the Capture card

4. Using software to cast your PS4 on your Laptop

Now all you need to do is power up your PS4 & your laptop and open the Software which came which your Capture card on your laptop. The application will automatically detect your PS4 and will start casting your PS4 on your Laptop screen. Just make sure to run the software in full-screen mode for the best experience.

This might be too expensive for all those who don’t own a Capture card and an HDMI cable because both of these can be a hard hit on your pocket. Worry not, I have got a cheaper way to do it as well!

Remote play is a software by Playstation where you can stream your PS4’s screen on to your Windows or Mac Laptop without any capture card. But for this, several things are required; Fast Internet Connection (Min 4 MBPS), PSN Account, USB Cable, and obviously your PS4 and your Laptop.

But before you connect your PS4 directly to your laptop, you’ll need an external screen or LCD TV to boot your PS4 in and enable some settings so that you could stream your laptop.

1. Install Remote Play on your Laptop

First, you need to install the latest version of the Remote Play app on your Laptop which will help you stream your PS4 on to your Laptop. You can download the Software directly by clicking here

Now, switch to your laptop and open the Remote Play Application. Now go to the app settings on the top left corner and tweak some settings there as shown to enhance your gaming experience.

In the settings, Firstly, you need to change Frames Per Seconds to 60fps or 30fps whatever your laptop supports. Now secondly, change the resolution from 720p to 1080p and you can also mix it up to 4k if you have a high powered gaming laptop with a 4k Display.

Keep in mind, if you’re playing at 60fps @1080p resolution, then the streaming might look good but it will suck up a lot of Data so keep that in mind!

4. Setting Up the Dualshock 4 Controller

Simply, connect your Controller and your laptop with a USB cable and this will simply connect the controller and you can enjoy your games with it. But if you want to connect your controller wirelessly, then follow these steps:

  • Connect the USB Adapter to your laptop and hold it for at least 3-4 seconds unless your controller gets paired with your laptop.
5. Pairing your PS4 to your Laptop

Now open the remote play application on your laptop and click on start. Once you click on start, you’ll be asked to log in to your PSN Account. Once logged in, it will search for PS4 in the network and once connected, you’ll be taken to your PS4’s Home screen.
